Koresh
The Koresh Collection is an amazing assortment of products designed and crafted in Jerusalem by Koresh Boteach. With items that are both pleasant to look at and inspiring to the spirit, anything by Koresh is certain to make you want to add to your collection of Judaica.
Koresh Boteach was raised in Jerusalem after emigrating with his family from Iran as a young child. Growing up in Jerusalem, he was exposed to all the different cultures that make up the city, and got to explore first hand many of the locations that help to make it such a unique city. Initially in life he chose to study agriculture, but was drawn away from that and to the artistic world.
Living in a city as meaningful and history filled as Jerusalem, Koresh had no shortage of inspirations when he decided to venture into art. He fell in love with Jerusalem stone, the rock that is mined in the Judean Hills and is the outer finish of all buildings in Jerusalem. He loves how every piece quarried is unique, and takes time to polish and finish the stones himself to make sure they are as beautiful to the customer as they are to him.
Along with the stones, Koresh incorporates glass and metals into his works, adding to the variety amongst his pieces. Koresh creates items meant for all occasions, from mezuzahs to Hanukkah Menorahs. And within each form, there is plenty of variations for fans of everything from traditional stone items all the way to things for people prefer more color in their home décor. Amongst his most amazing mezuzahs are ones which have a stone backing, and a glass front. Although colored, the class is set so that it can be seen through, making the actual home blessing scroll visible, a lovely detail not often thought of.
Koresh finds ways to take popular symbols within Judaism (the hamsa, Star of David, and others) and incorporate them into his pieces, making beautiful creations that serve both as amazing presents and as a treat to yourself for your own home.

Koresh Collection Guide
The Koresh Collection is an amazing assortment of products designed and crafted by Koresh Boteach. It contains items that serve both practical and spiritual purposes, and has something for everyone.
Who is Koresh?
Koresh Boteach is an artisan who lives and crafts in Jerusalem. His name came from that of the Persian king Cyrus the Great, who allowed the Jewish people to return to Jerusalem around 563 BCE. He has been in Jerusalem since he was a child, after immigrating from Iran with his family, and though he studied agriculture, Koresh ultimately decided the art world was for him.
Jerusalem has no shortage of inspirations for artists such as Koresh, being full of history from basically every era over the past 3 millennia. The scenery and the materials there are different from anywhere else in the world. One of the things that causes Jerusalem to stand out from other cities is that the buildings are all made from Jerusalem stone, and it was this rock that became the main inspiration for Koresh. He has taken that material and discovered ways of turning it into one of a kind pieces of art, Judaica suitable for a range of occasions, from items for day-to-day life to beautiful pieces used only for Hanukah or Passover, etc.
Materials and Techniques
Jerusalem stone is the primary material that Koresh Boteach prefers to work in, while also incorporating glass and metals for various uses within his pieces. The stones have been mined from the Judean Hills outside of Jerusalem. Nearly every piece contains a piece of stone somewhere, even if just as an embellishment. Koresh uses colors carefully, not clashing or going too bright, and manages to find tones that perfectly compliment the stones he uses. Every piece is a handmade labor of love.
Koresh's creations range from decorative home blessings that are perfect for anywhere in the home (and make wonderful last minute gifts) to a large selection of mixed-media mezuzahs (many of which have glass over the centers so that the actual blessing scroll will be visible to viewers), to Hanukah menorahs that are both beautiful and sturdy, and will be able to be passed through the generations.
Style
Koresh has been influenced greatly by his Jerusalem upbringing, and also by the Iranian history of his family. He fuses those together with knowledge of modern life and style, and creates one of a kind pieces that are a mix of traditional and modern designs. Everything has a simple elegance to it, and Koresh finds ways to entwine symbols from Judaism into even the most every day of his creations. The stones Koresh uses sometimes guide them on their own, as each one is different, and receives personal attention to make sure that the finished products reach the level of perfection he wants in his work.
