After her mother passed away she sought a creative outlet and persuaded the kibbutz to let her use a small workroom as a studio.
Shlomit began her business making scarves and soon expanded into Judaica items and apparel. Nowadays she runs Galilee Silks together with designer Hadar Zaks, and the company employs 20 women. The company prides itself on its environmentally friendly production and cooperative work environment. The kibbutz based studio includes workers from nearby Arab villages and immigrants. These dedicated ladies are all fabric artists and skilled craftsmen who constantly strive for superior quality and beauty.
