Shraga Landesman is a notable Israeli artist. His work includes inspiration from nature and his middle-eastern surroundings. He produces all his work in his Haifa studio. Shraga has won many awards for his art and photography and his work is displayed and sold by many museums worldwide.
Born in Israel in 1954, Shraga Landesman went on to study painting and sculpture in 'Oranim' College of Art and also in 'Tel Hai' College. His initial focus was on photography which he was very successful in. He took a break from this to travel Europe to learn about how the origins of western culture had an effect of the origins of art. When he returned he starting exploring the fields of Silver and Gold metal work and quickly excelled in this also. He had numerous exhibitions all over Europe, Israel and New York. In the late 90's he moved his focus to Jewish art and has become a prominent designer in this field internationally.
Shraga Landesmans' unique aesthetic come from the deep spiritual inspiration he takes from the Bible and the incredible variety of ancient cultures that have inhabited the holy land. The techniques used by Shraga Landesman vary and give his collection balanced feel. He uses mainly metals although some of his items are also from wood or glass. His latest collection features a range of colored anodized aluminum items with designs skillfully cutout. He uses brass and aluminum in many of his cast metal designs. The decorations he uses are often taken from nature and many feature birds, doves, trees, pomegranates and gazelle.
